Committee advances alcohol-permit ordinances to second reading while staff searches City Green deed

Law Director Tom Kelly told the committee the administration requested second reading because title records available online did not include the original grant and the administration is working with a title company to locate the original deed and any restrictions. "We are using other means to try and locate the original deed," Kelly said.
Mayor Antoskiewicz said the draft legislation is limited to city-sponsored events and that the city would not broadly allow public drinking on city property or hand out permits for open consumption. Resident Connie Mayer urged caution, citing the Green’s history as a family-centered venue and raising concerns that alcohol tents could displace local business sponsors and change the character of events. Mayer also recounted historical fundraising for veterans tied to Homecoming events.
The committee did not finalize the ordinances and kept them in committee pending the deed search and any needed revisions.
