Cusseta‑Chattahoochee commissioners approve tax‑assessor reappointments, table several agenda items

At its Oct. 1 meeting the Cusseta‑Chattahoochee County Commission unanimously reappointed two members to the Board of Tax Assessors, appointed the county manager to the Two Rivers Regional Commission and approved one vehicle purchase for commission use while tabling several other agenda items to future meetings.
The Cusseta‑Chattahoochee County Board of Commissioners unanimously reappointed James Wiehe and Ken Vanhorn to the county Board of Tax Assessors and appointed County Manager Thomas Weaver to the Two Rivers Regional Commission at its Oct. 1 regular meeting.
The commission approved a motion to purchase one vehicle for Board of Commissioners use on credit and tabled two other vehicle purchases for the sheriff and EMA pending SPLOST results. Commissioner Jason Frost moved to approve the vehicle for the commission, and Commissioner Damon Hoyte seconded; the transcript reports the vote was unanimous.
Several agenda items were deferred. Commissioners voted to table a Board of Education request to use the Old City Hall Building until the November meeting, and they moved the cardboard compactor at the recycling site to the next work session for further consideration. The Board of Elections policy second reading was also tabled to a future work session.
Other formal actions recorded in the meeting included approval of a refund for Beverly Riley, rescheduling the November regular meeting to Nov. 12 at 9:00 a.m., and approval of minutes from prior meetings. All recorded votes on these items were unanimous on the meeting transcript.
The commission discussed cemetery bylaws and whether to adopt them as rules and regulations or as an ordinance requiring public readings; County Attorney Bin Minter agreed to meet with the cemetery committee to clarify next steps.
The meeting went into executive session to discuss personnel and legal matters and reconvened later the same evening. Attorney Minter later clarified two pending legal matters are on file at Superior Court, including an appeal from Magistrate Court (Case 23‑CV‑0257) and a separate lawsuit.
