Town, Rotary and volunteers plan planting, meadow restoration and a community garden

Planner said the town was approved for nine trees and asked commissioners to solicit volunteers; the Rotary Club donated $7,500 to the town for signs acknowledging partners on the Meadow project. Commissioners discussed logistics—topsoil, potential buried concrete encountered during past plantings, and timing—deciding to assemble cost estimates and bring a recommendation to council in November so work could be scheduled for spring 2025 if funded.
Commissioners also noted potential grant opportunities for planting and community-garden work but said some grant windows (a local Gro Pittsburgh-style grant) may already be closed; staff volunteered to compile a budget spreadsheet and pricing so the proposal can be included in the next budget cycle.
