Fiscal Court approves routine business, hears two ordinances in first reading

The Marshall County Fiscal Court handled multiple routine items July 2, approving minutes and several motions and taking first readings of two ordinances during a special called meeting at the Marshall County Courthouse in Benton.

Commissioner Marty Barrett moved and Commissioner Eddie McGuire seconded approval of the minutes from June 22 and June 30 special called meetings and the June 22 public hearing; the court recorded unanimous approval. The court also approved and signed a Coast Guard grant application for Emergency Management (motion by Barrett; seconded by McGuire) and approved Commissioner Eddie McGuire’s training incentive (motion by Barrett; seconded by Monti Collins). The Treasurer’s report was accepted subject to audit on a motion by Commissioner Monti Collins and seconded by Commissioner Marty Barrett. The court also approved an appropriation transfer and approved payment of the bills; each motion was recorded in the minutes as passing unanimously.

Treasurer Erica West read Ordinance 2026-05 (budget amendment) for its first reading, and Deputy Judge Andrew Pagel read Ordinance 2026-06 (amendment to the administrative code) for its first reading. No votes to adopt either ordinance were recorded at the July 2 meeting. The record notes there was no executive session.
