At its July 23 meeting the Byram Township Board of Education approved a broad personnel consent agenda that included the resignation of Bonnie Spring (effective June 30, 2025) and multiple hires for the 2025–26 school year.
The board, led by Vice President James McBain, approved the appointment of Rachel Parisi as an elementary teacher, Samanta Jackson as a math special education teacher and Megan Doyle as a special education teacher. The board also approved summer appointments and substitute custodial hires retroactive to June 1, 2025. An interim assistant principal, Louis Sylvester, was approved at $450 per day for an appointment approximately Aug. 18 to Nov. 17, 2025. The board approved a school nurse, Isabella Candeloro, pending required state approval.
Mrs. Kristy McFarlane moved the personnel resolutions and Ms. Lauren Pedersen seconded; the motion carried on roll call with five members voting yes and two members recorded absent.
The consent agenda also authorized position‑specific hourly and stipend assignments for preschool and kindergarten orientation staff, summer CST meeting pay, an art camp stipend and a $2,750 extracurricular newspaper stipend for James Clayton. Several new preschool and STEP positions were listed as TBD pending final assignment.
The personnel approvals were presented by Superintendent Dr. Kurt Ceresnak as part of the consent agenda. No separate discussion or public comment was recorded on individual appointments.
Next steps: the approved hires will appear on the district payroll and the interim assistant principal will assume duties when contract start dates and required clearances are completed.
