The Warren Hills Regional Board of Education on May 13 approved a broad personnel package for the 2025–26 school year, including involuntary transfers, coaching appointments, substitutes, leaves and the district's renewal lists.
The board voted to accept motions I.1 through I.17 by motion of Jean Hansen, seconded by Molly Fraumeni. The motion passed on a roll call with all members present voting aye and two members absent.
Key personnel actions included the involuntary transfer of Jeffrey Balas to high school special education at a salary listed as $98,980 and the involuntary transfer of Tara Steele to high school mathematics at a salary of $66,580. The board approved multiple coaching appointments: Joseph Macho as head football coach ($10,014), several assistant football coaches at specified stipends, and David Sbriscia as head boys cross country coach for the middle school for the 2025–26 season ($4,429). The board also approved summer weight room supervisors (Patrick Kablis and Kenneth Kurpat) at $47 per hour with specified hour limits and several substitute and volunteer appointments pending required documentation.
The board accepted the resignation of Stephanie VanAlstine effective May 13, 2025. It also approved a personnel reduction that reduces employee I.D. #2317 from full‑time (1.0) to part‑time (.5) effective July 1, 2025, with placement of that tenured employee on the district's preferred eligibility list per N.J.S.A. 18A:28‑9.
Board members approved the district's renewal attachments A–K, which list tenured and non‑tenured certificated staff, school security personnel, technology personnel and custodial/grounds/maintenance staff for 2025–26. The attachments include position titles and salary steps for dozens of employees across the district.
The personnel section also included approval of several job descriptions (Attachment L), travel and conference requests, and multiple leave requests, including maternity leaves with start dates and specified paid/unpaid day allocations.
The board did not amend the motions during the meeting. Next steps include administrative follow‑through on contract paperwork, background checks and onboarding documentation for hires and substitutes.
