Owens Cross Roads council adopts pay-scale overhaul and hires Rivertree for license audits; other resolutions approved

The Owens Cross Roads City Council voted on a set of resolutions and took action on personnel and contract matters.
The council unanimously adopted Resolution 26-005, naming Mayor Tony Craig as the primary voting delegate to the Alabama League of Municipalities annual business meeting, with Councilman Claude Lang as alternate delegate one and Councilwoman Jennifer Little as alternate delegate two. Councilwoman Daniel Arvison moved to adopt and Councilwoman Jennifer Little seconded; the motion carried with all present voting "yes."
The council also approved Resolution 26-006, designating Mayor Tony Craig as the voting delegate for the Alabama Municipal Insurance Corporation meeting and naming Councilman Daniel Arvison and Councilwoman Elizabeth Craig as alternates. Councilwoman Jennifer Little moved and Councilwoman Elizabeth Craig seconded the adoption; the motion carried unanimously.
Resolution 26-007 authorizes an expansion of the municipal pay scale from a 10-step to a 25-step structure and adjusts step percentages for budgeting purposes, with the changes to take effect Oct. 1 at the start of the new budget year. Councilman Scott Baker moved to adopt 26-007 and Councilwoman Elizabeth Craig seconded; the motion passed with the council voting in favor.
Resolution 26-008 authorizes the city to enter a professional services agreement with Rivertree Systems Inc. for business license tax auditing and related compliance services. Councilman Claude Lang moved to adopt and Councilwoman Jennifer Little seconded; the council voted to adopt the resolution.
Resolution 26-003, an agreement with Beers and Associates to participate in the Huntsville Madison County Quality of Place and Space publication, received no motion and therefore was not adopted.
The meeting also recorded detailed bank balances and approved the previous minutes and balances by unanimous voice vote.
