Reinbeck council votes to proceed with capital-improvement levy and hire planning coach

At the March 2 meeting Mayor Jamie Eiffler outlined a capital improvement levy the city could use to generate revenue for capital projects. According to the minutes, if approved by voters the levy would amount to $0.675 per $1,000 of taxable value and would generate approximately $50,000 per year until repealed.
Council Member Bueghly moved to proceed with the capital improvement levy and to hire Patrick Callahan as a coach to help develop a Capital Improvement Plan; Council Member Wambold seconded and the motion carried 5–0.
Minutes state the levy must be approved by a vote of residents. The motion directs staff to work with the hired coach on the plan and the levy process. The council did not set a ballot or election date during the March meeting.
