The Central Town Council voted to send letters to Pickkins County and the city of Liberty requesting available wastewater treatment capacity, up to 200,000 gallons per day, Enterprise and Community Engagement staff said.
Miss Chapman presented the utilities report and said the town understands the middle regional plant near 18 Mile Road has available capacity. "The Town of Central would like to purchase as much capacity as is available, up to 200,000 gallons per day," Chapman said. She told council the letters would be sent as soon as possible.
Council members asked clarifying questions about whether the request was for immediate needs or for future planning; the mayor and staff confirmed the request is proactive to secure capacity for future development, not for current unmet demand. A motion to approve sending the two letters was moved and seconded and carried by voice vote.
What's next: Staff will send the letters to Pickkins County and Liberty and report back to council on responses and any terms or availability information they receive.
