Teaneck Board accepts HIB recommendations, approves claims and payroll and directs removal action for staff member

The Teaneck Board of Education on Feb. 11 accepted the superintendent’s recommendations on incidents of Harassment/Intimidation/Bullying (HIB) and directed that parents/guardians be notified as required by New Jersey law.
During the board’s workshop meeting the board also approved the payment of claims for Jan. 17–Feb. 5, 2026 totaling $4,050,156.55 and payroll for Jan. 1–31, 2026 totaling $5,030,157.48. The board approved line‑item transfers for January 2026 and accepted the Board Secretary and School Treasurer financial reports certifying that no major accounts were overexpended in violation of N.J.A.C. 6:20‑2.13.
Other financial items approved included a contract not to exceed $14,668.50 with Biagio’s and The Terrace to host the Teaneck High School Senior Awards Lunch on June 18, 2026; multiple tuition agreements and reimbursements under the McKinney‑Vento Act for students deemed homeless (itemized in the minutes); and the district’s annual per‑pupil cost schedule for nonresident students (rates for PREK–12 shown in minutes).
On personnel, the board approved retirements, new appointments and multiple extra‑pay stipends for after‑school and extracurricular programs as listed in the board packet. The board adopted a resolution concerning employee number #0591 that—citing N.J.S.A. 18A:6 et seq.—directed the superintendent to take actions to remove the employee from employment, stating grounds including failure to report for duty, insubordination and other causes as listed in the minutes.
Why it matters: The HIB acceptance triggers required family notifications and the payroll/claims approvals cover the district’s near‑term operating costs; the personnel removal resolution invokes statutory authority and directs administrative action that may have legal and staffing consequences.
