Byram Township board approves staff hires, substitutes and new technology coordinator role

As part of its consent agenda on Aug. 20, the Byram Township Board of Education approved a slate of personnel actions for the 2025–26 school year: resignations, substitute appointments, extracurricular stipends and new hires.
Instructional items included the hiring of Mary Jo Tannotta as an Algebra/Math teacher at a salary listed as $67,616 (BA Step 9) with a start date of Aug. 26, 2025, and multiple tutoring and RTI assignments listed at $42 per hour for various staff. Non-instructional approvals included substitute teachers and paraprofessionals at district rates, track supervision and STEM Academy stipends. Several hires carry standard start and end dates for the school year (Sept.–June).
The agenda also approved the district technology coordinator position and job description and lists compensation entries related to Patricia Trentanelli: a $1,000 retroactive payment for 2024–25 recording/setup work, a $25.22/hour line for meeting recording/tech setup in 2025–26, and a separate line listing a $5,000 annual stipend for the Technology Coordinator role for 2025–26. The minutes present these multiple entries; administration should reconcile which line items apply to the paid role moving forward.
The personnel approvals were carried by roll call vote as part of the broader consent agenda.
