Byram Township Board adopts 2025–26 district and board goals

The Byram Township Board of Education on Aug. 20 adopted its district goals for 2025–26 that prioritize data-driven Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), strategies to support students’ social and emotional development, and the start of a Five Year Facilities Plan.
Superintendent Dr. Kurt Ceresnak introduced the district goals during the meeting at Byram Lakes School and described the PLC goal as an effort to use multiple data sources to measure student progress and improve instruction. The board also adopted board-level goals emphasizing up-to-date policies, board member professional development and the creation of board norms to strengthen governance.
Board President Courtny Gallagher presided over the meeting and the consent agenda that included the formal adoption. The consent vote was moved by Mrs. Kristy McFarlane and seconded by Ms. Lauren Pedersen and carried on a roll call with five members voting yes and two members absent.
The adopted district goals are intended to shape professional development, communication and facility planning in the coming school year; the board’s governance goals commit members to training opportunities such as Board Certification training through the New Jersey School Boards Association.
