Board authorizes cooperative girls wrestling program and approves multiple field trips and fundraisers

The Butler Board of Education authorized submission of a petition to the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association for a cooperative girls wrestling program with Pompton Lakes and potentially Kinnelon for the 2026–2027 school year at its March 25 meeting.
The resolution authorizes the Board President and the Board Secretary to sign the cooperative-agreement documents subject to final review and approval by the board attorney. The board described the request as consistent with NJSIAA rules that allow two or more schools to form a joint team for interscholastic competition.
Separately, the board approved a slate of field trips for the 2025–2026 and 2026–2027 school years, including a BHS marching-band trip to Orlando (April 7–11, 2027) at $2,209 per student and several community-outreach and life-skills trips listed with no per-student cost. The board also renewed homebound/bedside instruction authorizations for students with specified hours and end dates, approved fundraisers such as a student tattoo fundraiser and PTA programs, and approved athletic and youth-camp facility uses operated by community groups.
All curriculum and CIS motions were approved by roll call with board members present voting yes.
