The Marlboro County School Board approved three as‑needed roofing contracts and took several routine personnel actions following an executive session.
Procurement lead Ms. O'Neal presented a best‑value solicitation for district roof repairs (advertised Feb. 5; pre‑bid Feb. 20; bids closed Feb. 27). She recommended awarding the as‑needed contracts to three firms ranked by score: Roof Co., Inc. (Sumter), Atkins Roofing and Maintenance (Sumter) and Roberson Construction (Bennettsville). The contracts were described as an initial 36‑month agreement with optional one‑year extensions; the board moved to award and the motion passed.
Hazel Ellison presented an Act 155 diploma request contained in the board packet; the board approved the request without discussion. Later, after an executive session to discuss personnel, resignations and the superintendent search, the board reported no decisions were made in executive session and scheduled a special meeting to finalize the superintendent appointment pending advice from the State Department.
Back in open session, the board approved five certified separations, one transfer and one certified hire presented by the superintendent. The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn.
The roofing procurement was framed as a best‑value (60% price, 25% references/qualifications, 15% proximity) solicitation; Ms. O'Neal said the approach allows rapid response to leaks while reserving the right to bid larger jobs separately.
