Bridgeville Borough on the evening opened its regular meeting by recognizing the sequence of first-response actions that revived a FedEx employee who suffered sudden cardiac arrest on June 13.
Council officials presented proclamations to the South Brid EMS crew (including paramedic supervisor Mark Suelli and EMT Josh Hins), Bridgeville police chief Chad King, fire chief Ray Costain, hospital staff from St. Clair Health Systems and bystanders who began CPR on site. According to remarks reported at the meeting, bystanders initiated CPR within minutes, first responders arrived quickly, and continued advanced life support in the field; hospital staff then carried on resuscitation in the emergency department until the patient regained a heartbeat roughly 50 minutes after CPR began and later moved to intensive care.
Council members and staff said the ceremony was intended to highlight the importance of the 'chain of survival'—early recognition and CPR, rapid dispatch, advanced life support and hospital care—and to thank both trained responders and laypeople whose actions were noted as critical to the outcome. The meeting included group photographs and the presentation of citations to the responders.
The council did not take policy action related to the incident; the recognition was ceremonial. The borough recorded gratitude to the individuals and agencies involved and noted the event as an example of coordinated emergency response in the community.
