Wallkill Valley board approves transfers, large bill manifest and several policy updates

By unanimous roll‑call vote the board approved budget transfers totaling $398,765.45 for the period Jan. 24–Feb. 19, 2026, and certified under N.J.A.C. 6A:23A‑16.10 that no line‑item accounts are over‑expended as of Jan. 31, 2026. The board accepted the Board Secretary’s and Treasurer’s reports showing a cash balance of $2,176,197.93 as of Jan. 31, 2026 and approved the revised register of bills totaling $1,772,211.43; the register was placed on file in the business administrator’s office.
The Finance Committee recommended approval of committee items 1–8, including a change order (#8) for TM Brennan Contractors on the Shop Upgrades project and authorization to apply for a New Jersey Department of Community Affairs grant of approximately $37,295 to replace baseball and softball scoreboards and to purchase a soccer goal package. The board also approved submittal of smaller grants to purchase Spanish‑department textbooks and supplies if awarded, and accepted a donation of Testo 760‑2 digital multimeters valued at $1,752 from the Shikata family.
Policy committee actions included final adoption of revised policies and regulations such as 0142.1 (Nepotism) and 0161 (Call, Adjournment and Cancellation), and second readings of new policies including 1552 (Sexual Harassment — Staff) and 2535 (Library Materials).
The board approved building‑use requests for summer theater rehearsals and Special Olympic practice and approved multiple field trips, including the FBLA state competition, a MetLife Stadium operations tour and a Museum of Jewish Heritage visit.
