GRAFTON — Comstar Credit Union representatives told the Village of Grafton council on Jan. 6 that the credit union plans to open a branch in the village, citing local ties and a phased timeline.
Dave Jezewski, representing Comstar, said the institution began to support local industry and has gradually expanded since 2022 into Lorain County and neighboring counties to give residents more banking options. He said the credit union is a not-for-profit organization and described a scholarship program for high school seniors. Jezewski said about 4% of Comstar members are from Grafton and that several employees have ties to the village; he introduced staff who will work on the project and invited the mayor and council to Comstar’s annual meeting March 31 at the Emerald Event Center in Avon.
Jezewski said the next steps are for a Comstar representative (Rick) to coordinate with village officials on design and construction, with a planned groundbreaking in the fall and an anticipated grand opening in the first quarter of 2027. Council members welcomed the presentation; resident Stephanie Guyeska offered a short welcome on behalf of the community.
The presentation was informational; council did not take any formal vote on the project during the meeting. Follow-up items include coordination between Comstar and the village on site design and permitting.
