The Tabernacle Township School District Board of Education met on Feb. 17, 2026, at Kenneth R. Olson Middle School and approved a revised 2025–26 calendar, a suite of personnel actions and several financial measures including acceptance of an NJDEP settlement and a contract for speech therapy services.
Dr. Kevin McCloy moved and Mr. Greg Casterioto seconded approval of the revised district calendar; the Board recorded the motion and approved the change. If implemented, March 20, 2026, will be a half-day for students with a half-day staff in-service, a modification the superintendent had placed on the agenda.
Why it matters: the calendar change alters an instructional day in late March and adjusts staff in-service timing; the district said families will receive notices about related scheduling and conference windows.
Votes at a glance: The Board recorded votes for routine agenda approvals during the meeting, including field trips for Tabernacle Elementary School and Kenneth R. Olson Middle School, personnel appointments and leaves, financial reports and check runs, contract approvals, acceptance of the NJDEP settlement, and Resolution 26‑017 (a waiver request related to the Special Education Medicaid Initiative). The meeting minutes record motions and seconders for each item and show recorded roll-call support on the agenda for the approvals.
Personnel and programs: The Board authorized the district to run a paid spring ESports season funded through fundraising and appointed Lauren Annicchiarico as ESports coach. The Board also approved staff reimbursements for approved coursework (Maria Guelich) and approved summer-program staffing contingent on enrollment (Thomas Crilley, Brittany Murro, Pamela Czekay). Several leaves were approved or rescheduled pending paperwork: employee #4354 (FMLA starting May 21, 2026, through the end of the school year, using contracted sick time), employee #4878 (rescheduled leave Jan. 27–Feb. 17, 2026), and employee #4715 (FMLA/NJFLA April 13–Nov. 22, 2026). The Board approved home instruction by Heather Petersack for student #3907 (up to 5 hours per week at the contracted hourly rate).
Financial actions and contracts: The Board certified routine financial reports for December 2025 and approved check runs, including a $471,404.26 check run dated Feb. 12, 2026, payrolls on Jan. 30 and Feb. 13, and a cafeteria check run of $24,566.63. The Board approved a contract with ProCare Therapy for speech therapy services at a rate not to exceed $136.00 per hour. The Board accepted an NJDEP settlement in the amount of $23,759.78; payments will be made in monthly installments of $989.99 over 24 months. The Board also approved selling 100 outdated Chromebooks on GovDeals and approved submission for the New Jersey Acceleration Program High Impact Tutoring Competitive Grant.
Policy and oversight matters: The Board conducted first readings of revised policies including P 0142.1 (Nepotism), P 1220 (Employment of Chief School Administrator) and P&R 1552 (Sexual Harassment — new). It carried out a first-and-only reading to abolish earlier sexual-harassment policies and associated procedures (P 3362, R 3362, P 4352, R 4352). The Board accepted the January 20, 2026 HIB report and accepted the Feb. 17, 2026 HIB report as presented on the agenda.
Enrollment and upcoming events: District enrollment was recorded at TES 406 (including 4 tuition students), OMS 382 (including 4 tuition students) and a total of 791 students. The superintendent noted upcoming events including OMS’s assembly with Jordon Toma on Feb. 25 (sponsored by the Tabernacle Municipal Alliance, the Education Foundation and a Canva grant), Read Across America activities March 2–6 at TES, and OMS Drama Club performances of The Little Mermaid March 10–12 (with one evening performance).
Procedural notes: The meeting opened with the Board Secretary’s recitation of the Open Public Meetings Act notice (NJSA 10:4‑6). Several consent, financial and personnel items were bundled and approved via motions with recorded seconders and roll‑call results recorded on the agenda. The meeting adjourned at 8:45 p.m.
Next steps: The calendar modification, if finalized in district communications and scheduling, will affect conferences and the March 20 schedule; families will receive updates via the district. The Board record shows multiple administrative follow-ups (contracts, grant submissions and equipment disposal) that will be executed by district staff.
