Ridgetop aldermen approve local paving, equipment purchases and a municipal text-alert contract

At its Aug. 19 meeting, the Ridgetop Board of Aldermen approved local paving and equipment purchases, accepted a municipal text-alert contract and authorized advertisements for additional roadwork.
Bids and purchases: The board approved a $18,995.00 paving and excavation bid for Red Oak Court from Cedar Ridge Service. Members also approved the purchase of a 60-inch, 35-horsepower Hustler mower from Countryside Outdoor for $14,799.00. The board authorized advertising bids for a culvert replacement on Liebengood Road and for paving on Highland Drive. All motions carried unanimously.
Digital engagement and administration: Alderman Martin moved to accept a TextMyGov proposal for $5,250 for the first year and $3,500 for recurring years with a minimum three-year term; Alderman Senft seconded and the motion carried. The city recorder also reported the city has implemented cybersecurity software with VC3.
Utilities and local services: Mayor Shaw reported ongoing utility work — the gas department completed 35 '811' locate tickets and other routine service orders; the sewer department completed 20 tank inspections targeting inflow and infiltration. Mayor Shaw also reported Utility Manager Brian Dean is having a gas line installed at his residence (6613 Shedden Road) and will pay the same cost as other residents.
The board scheduled a city workshop for Sept. 16, 2025 at 5:30 p.m. and adjourned after completing the agenda.
