Ridgetop aldermen set certified tax rate, adopt updated building and fire codes and amend records policy

At its Aug. 19 meeting, the Ridgetop Board of Aldermen approved the certified property tax rate for FY2025–26, adopted the 2024 building and fire codes and amended the public records policy. All motions passed unanimously; the meeting also approved several local bids.
The Ridgetop Board of Aldermen unanimously approved setting the property tax rate at the certified rate for fiscal year 2025–26 and adopted updated building and fire codes during their Aug. 19 meeting.
The board approved Ordinance 2025-107 to set the property tax rate for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026. Alderman Senft moved the ordinance and Alderman Gregory seconded; the motion carried with all members voting aye.
The board next approved Ordinance 2025-108 to amend the municipal code to adopt the 2024 edition of the International Building Codes, the 2018 International Energy Conservation Code and the 2024 National Electrical Code. Alderman Gregory moved the ordinance, Vice Mayor Gilmore seconded, and the vote was unanimous.
Aldermen also approved Ordinance 2025-109 to adopt the 2024 edition of the International Fire Code; Alderman Senft moved, Alderman Gregory seconded, and the motion passed unanimously.
In other formal actions, the board adopted Resolution 25-09 declaring certain city property surplus and authorizing its disposal, and approved Resolution 25-10 amending the city’s Public Records Policy. Both resolutions passed on unanimous votes.
