Silver Creek Township OKs culvert work, beaver-trapping and 2025 fire fees

Silver Creek Township’s Board of Supervisors on Oct. 22 approved routine maintenance work and small appropriations and set the township’s 2025 fire protection fees.
Clerk-Treasurer Alana Paumen presented routine items including the audit of claims and the unemployment quarterly statement. The board approved clerk training (motion by Chairman Mike Helman, seconded by Supervisor Andy Christensen), and approved the 2025 fire fees — $60 per parcel in Monticello and $95 per parcel in Maple Lake — on a motion by Vice Chairman Brandon Geyen, seconded by Christensen; the motion carried 4-0.
On maintenance, the board said the 134th Street culvert replacement will occur at the end of October or beginning of November and that the township plans to submit project costs to the county for remaining grant funds. The Meridian Avenue culvert project, completed by Monticello Township, will reopen the road tomorrow, according to the minutes.
The board authorized up to $750 for beaver trapping and up to $1,000 to hire a water truck for grading if needed (both motions moved by Supervisor Ryan Nelson and seconded by Vice Chairman Brandon Geyen; both carried 4-0). The minutes also note the computer installation is complete except for one supervisor laptop and that staff may request to work from home with prior approval from the chairman.
In old business the board recorded that Mr. Haack reported receiving a citation from the WCSO; the board said it will follow the county’s lead on any further action. The meeting concluded after a motion to adjourn.
