Supervisor Mike Helman gave the board a budget update on Aug. 6, saying he expects the township to finish the year carrying over roughly $160,000 in the General Fund and $600,000 in the Road & Bridge Fund. Helman proposed starting a dedicated equipment fund to reduce or avoid borrowing for future equipment purchases; the board will receive an updated budget each month.
In maintenance updates, the board noted extensive grading work after recent rain and that a newly hired employee is training on the grader. Supervisor Brandon Geyen moved and Supervisor Sandy Forsman seconded a motion to authorize up to $4,500 for needed loader repairs; the motion carried 4-0.
Helman also reported that culvert replacement grant paperwork will be handled by Chris, and he summarized clean-up day finances, listing expenses of $6,293.63 and income of $7,333.00. The board scheduled a road tour for Aug. 20 to inspect local roads and agreed to look for a late-September date for a budget workshop to prepare next year’s numbers.
