The Danbury Board of Awards unanimously approved March 19 a motion to award cell-service and related equipment purchases to Verizon under the Connecticut state contract for a one-time, 24-month retention-credit offer intended to secure public-safety coverage.
Purchasing agent Chip Volk said the city currently uses Verizon under the state contract and that past tests of other carriers showed Verizon provided the strongest coverage for public-safety needs. He described the offer as a 24-month plan that would deliver “significant cost savings” and recommended the board accept the retention-credit pricing.
Chip Volk made the motion to award the service and purchase the related equipment through the state contract; Joanne Stirk seconded. During the voice vote Joanne Stirk and Deputy Corporation Counsel Robin Edwards were recorded voting in favor; Chip Volk also announced his vote in favor. Volk stated the motion carried unanimously.
No additional conditions, contract effective dates, or implementation details were recorded on the public audio for the award during the meeting. The board adjourned following the vote.
