Republican and Democratic county parties jointly censure Cherokee County school board over charter denial

The resolution named the board trustees and asked that a copy be entered into the party’s official record and presented to the county’s legislative delegation.
Washa Fowler White followed and advised the board the Cherokee County Democratic Party issued the same censure on the same day; she described the document as a formal public statement of disapproval and said the parties were urging greater accountability, transparency and expanded educational opportunities.
Board leadership did not take formal action on the resolutions during the meeting; after the public comments the agenda moved on to the scheduled action items. The public‑comment speakers asked the board to recommit to policies that prioritize student welfare, transparency and community input.
