On the acquisition, the Maintenance, Property and Grounds Committee recommended authorizing the superintendent to work with a licensed realtor to negotiate purchase terms for the parcel that would attach to district‑owned land near the baseball field and elementary campus. Trustees asked how large the parcel is; staff did not have acreage in the packet but later stated the property is approximately 0.32 acres and that a house currently occupies the lot. The committee said the purchase would improve access and allow flexibility for future growth.
On Mary Bramlett School, trustees were told the city of Gaffney had requested the property. The board approved a motion giving the superintendent authority, in consultation with legal counsel, to negotiate and execute agreements consistent with board policy. Trustees asked about conditions on future disposition; staff said any future sale or nonuse would trigger reversion to the district under the draft approach, similar to prior transfers (the transcript noted the Alma transfer precedent).
Both items passed unanimously. Trustees instructed staff to pursue formal documentation and to return details to the board once negotiations progress.
Vote: Authorizations for both the Blacksburg adjacent parcel negotiation and the Mary Bramlett transfer were approved unanimously.
