Grafton planning panel approves Fox Run No. 9 prelim; council tables WWTP valve and okays holding police SUVs pending budget

The Village of Grafton Planning Commission approved a preliminary plat for Phase One of Fox Run No. 9, a proposed subdivision of 29 lots served from Huntington Hollow and Fox Run. The plan, as presented to the panel, shows lot sizes ranging roughly from 16,000 to 38,000 square feet (code minimum 9,750 square feet) and a minimum lot width at the building setback line of about 90 feet (code requires 65 feet). The plan also shows a stone emergency access drive from the cul-de-sac on Huntington Hollow to Commerce Drive that the applicant described as for emergency use only, with chains proposed to limit public access.
The commission’s motion to approve the preliminary site plan for Phase One was made by Paul Justy and seconded by Mayor Charlie Duke; the commission recorded a unanimous vote of approval. The approval is for a preliminary plat review and does not constitute final plat approval or permits for construction; further reviews and approvals will be required under the village’s land-use process.
At the regular council session, members handled several operational items. The council recorded unanimous approvals of minutes and routine bills, and voted to continue reading ordinances and resolutions by title only.
On public safety fleet matters, the council was informed that a 2013 Ford Taurus has been retired from police service. Staff reported locating two 2025 Ford Explorer vehicles priced at about $44,000 each and said a letter of intent is needed to secure one or two vehicles while the budget process is finalized. A motion to authorize staff to take actions to hold two vehicles, made by Ronnie Campbell, was seconded and approved unanimously.
The council also considered a vendor quote from DeZurik for a digester valve for the wastewater treatment plant priced at $14,755.00. Council moved to table the purchase until the next meeting so that Andrew (a staff member or vendor representative) can attend to discuss technical details; the motion to table passed unanimously.
What happens next: the Fox Run preliminary approval moves the subdivision toward formal review stages; the DeZurik quote will return for discussion and possible action when the relevant staff or vendor attends; and any purchase of police vehicles will depend on final budget approval and formal purchase authorization.
