Business owners and residents raised concerns about snow removal during the Village of Denton Board meeting on Feb. 2, 2026.
Scott Zeilinger, who identified himself as a local business owner, asked the board for permission to clear snow near his property if the village could not, and requested advance notice when village removal would not occur so he could make alternate plans. Resident Mike Sammus said the alley between Lancaster Avenue and Cass Avenue had not been receiving snow removal.
Chair Joe Hobelman responded that the village will clear sidewalks, the village parking lot and the downtown business district going forward and recommended the board maintain a consistent snow-plowing policy. No ordinance change or new fee was enacted at the meeting; the decision described implementation practice rather than a codified rule.
The board did not set a formal enforcement mechanism but clarified the village’s operational priorities for winter maintenance.
