Washington Township Council unanimously adopts five ordinances, approves consent resolutions

At its April 23 meeting the Washington Township Council unanimously adopted five ordinances including a re-appropriation of excess bond proceeds and updates to codes on abandoned vehicles, dumpsters, littering and stormwater; the council also approved a set of consent resolutions including a public-safety contract award.
Council Vice President Mr. Brown presided over the Washington Township Council meeting on April 23, 2025, where the council unanimously adopted a package of local ordinances and approved several consent resolutions.
The council voted to adopt Ordinance 0004-2025, described by council members as cancelling certain excess bond proceeds in the amount of $352,912.22 and re-appropriating $50,000.00 of those proceeds to finance specified costs. Councilmember Mr. Yerkes moved to adopt the ordinance and Mr. Harris seconded; the motion carried unanimously.
Council also adopted Ordinance 0005-2025 (amending Chapter 258, 'Vehicles, Abandoned'), Ordinance 0006-2025 (amending Chapter 76, 'Dumpsters and Other Refuse Containers'), Ordinance 0007-2025 (amending Chapter 137, 'Littering'), and Ordinance 0008-2025 (amending Chapter 213, 'Stormwater Control'). For each ordinance the council opened the meeting to public comment, heard none, closed public comment and approved adoption by unanimous roll-call votes.
The council introduced Ordinance 0009-2025, which would amend Chapter 254 ('Trees'); the ordinance was introduced with a motion and second and a vote to schedule public hearing and adoption for May 14, 2025.
On the consent agenda the council approved the following resolutions by unanimous vote: R117-2025, awarding a contract to Flock Group, Inc. for Flock Safety to support the Police Department's public-safety camera/plate-reading program; R118-2025, appointing members to the Washington Township Planning Board and amending the mayor's appointment book; and R119-2025 and R120-2025, authorizing change orders and accepting maintenance guarantees from Capela Construction, Inc. for Salem Avenue Culvert Improvements (Project #08-18-T-379) and St. Charles Culvert Improvements (Project #08-18-T-413).
Councilmembers described several community events and local developments during reports, and the meeting concluded after the council approved a resolution to enter executive session on litigation at 7:08 P.M.; the council exited executive session at 8:03 P.M. and adjourned at 8:04 P.M. The next regular meeting is scheduled for May 14, 2025 at 6:00 P.M.
