Council accepts special election result and swears in new District 2 member
Summary
The Batesburg-Leesville council voted to accept the Feb. 17 special election results for Town Council District 2 and Municipal Court Judge Michael Emmer administered the oath to the winning candidate, Chip Bradley.
The Batesburg-Leesville Town Council on Feb. 23 moved and seconded to accept the certified results of the Feb. 17, 2026 special election for Town Council District 2 and formally welcomed the newly elected member.
Council recorded votes by district as the motion was called: District One, District Five, District Six and District Eight each voted yes; the mayor also voted yes. After the motion carried, Municipal Court Judge Michael Emmer came forward and administered the oath of office to Councilmember Bradley, who thanked the council and attendees.
The council then completed the limited business of the special meeting, voted to adjourn that meeting and recessed briefly before convening the scheduled work session.
