Alameda County committee advances support for medically tailored meals pilot, child-welfare and EMS funding requests

At the March 30 meeting, Alameda County Health asked the Personnel Administration and Legislation Committee to take a support position on two federal bills (HR 5439 and Senate Bill 2834) to create a pilot program for medically tailored home-delivered meals. A supervisor moved to forward the request to the full Board and another supervisor seconded; the clerk called the roll and the motion passed.

Later in the meeting, Alameda County Social Services requested county support for a statewide $20,000,000 general-fund allocation to sustain emergency response stabilization efforts for child-welfare workforce stabilization. Alameda County Health also requested support for AB 1607 to remove the sunset on the MATI EMS fund to sustain reimbursements for uncompensated care. A supervisor moved to advance both items to the full Board, a second was recorded, the clerk called the roll, and both motions passed.

Supervisor Bordenotto Bass? moved the federal-bill support motion, saying, "I concur. Definitely want to support this request, and I will move to forward this support request for these, 2 bills, 1 in the House, 1 in the Senate to the full board." Another supervisor seconded and said, "I will 2nd that motion." The clerk recorded "Aye" votes and the motions were recorded as passed.

There were no public comments on either the federal or state legislative items. Both support positions will be placed on the full Board agenda for formal adoption or further action.
