Council approves switch to QuickBooks Online, schedules ordinance codification discussion and MASC presentation

Mayor Pro Tempore Peggy Bell told the council on Aug. 5 that she and the town clerk met with a local accountant and the town has converted its accounting system to QuickBooks Online to better enable monthly financial reporting. Bell said Carla Makela will schedule a Tree Board meeting to address tree-related matters.
Councilwoman Laura Pendley said the council will seek assistance from Municode to codify and administer changes as part of an Ordinance Review Project; she added that Charlie Barrineau of the Municipal Association of South Carolina (MASC) will attend the next Town Meeting to speak on that project and other topics.
Town Clerk Jennifer Newbold and the mayor provided information about upcoming changes to Santee Cooper's pricing structure and said they had provided meeting dates, links and tools for the public; they said further communication to residents will follow. Council also discussed hosting the October League of Cities and made preliminary arrangements, and were reminded of the CTC meeting on Aug. 13.
No formal votes on these administrative items were recorded at the workshop; council members indicated follow-up and scheduling would occur ahead of the next regular meeting.
