The Cherokee County School Board paused regular business to recognize dozens of student and staff accomplishments across the district, citing athletic honors, academic awards and community recognitions.
Superintendent Dr. Fitzpatrick and Trustee Surratt led a series of honors, including Special Olympics athlete awards (elementary, middle and high school athletes), middle- and high-school Perfect Score recognitions on state assessments, district spelling bee and art expo winners, Junior Bassmasters qualifiers, Palmetto State participants, and multiple Crystal Apple awards recognizing staff across certified, classified and substitute roles.
The board highlighted specific winners such as Cameron Wright (elementary Special Olympics athlete of the year), Jamille Gregory (high school athlete of the year), district spelling bee winner Elena Porter, the BD Lee Odyssey of the Mind team advancing to the international competition, Scholar Academy graduates and Meridian Early College graduates, as well as All-State athletes and coaches.
Trustees welcomed graduates and encouraged community attendance at upcoming commencement ceremonies; the meeting noted logistical details for Blackburg and Gaffney high school graduations.
