Wallkill Valley board accepts policy updates and safety agreements, drops COVID recordkeeping policy

At the Oct. 28 meeting the Wallkill Valley Regional High School Board accepted the first readings of a range of revised policies, approved new policy language and adopted related safety agreements.
The board accepted first readings for revisions that include Board Member Election and Appointment (0143), Internal Controls (1570), Administrative Employment Contracts (1620) and several others related to budgeting and special education. The board also accepted first readings of new policies, including Policy 5339.01 on student sun protection, and voted to abolish Policy 1648.15, which governed recordkeeping for healthcare settings related to COVID-19.
Administrators also reported acceptance of the New Jersey Department of Education self-assessment under the Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Act for July 1, 2024–June 30, 2025 and approved submittal of the School Safety and Security Plan Annual Review Statement of Assurance. The board approved the Memorandum of Agreement between education and law enforcement officials for the 2025–2026 school year and an Emergency Evacuation Agreement with Sussex County Community College effective Oct. 28, 2025 through June 20, 2026.
