Campobello continues to seek sewer solution as USDA decision looms

Town officials told the Campobello Town Council on March 9 that the ongoing sewer project remains unresolved pending funding. The town’s engineering consultant has not identified a feasible option that fits current funding limits, and Spartanburg County told officials it cannot provide additional funding at this time. Town staff said they are awaiting a final decision from the U.S. Department of Agriculture on grant funding and are preparing multiple fallback approaches depending on that outcome.
Mayor Aaron Ash and Council Member Joe McDowell are scheduled to visit Chimney Rock to review that system firsthand and will report back at the April council meeting, officials said. Town Administrator Trey Eubanks told council USDA representatives indicated they did not see issues with the current project plan but noted the process has been slow.
Council members stressed continued commitment to exploring all possible solutions but gave no timetable for a final project selection. The council did not vote on any sewer-related authorization at the March 9 meeting.
