County project update: animal shelter moves forward; $1.6M IEDC ready grant expected

Miss Parker provided a funding update: the county’s building fund began with $129,339, pledges and donations have contributed $391,227 to date, moving the local total close to $520,566. She reported that the county is in a pre‑commitment review for an IEDC Ready grant and that county staff expect the $1.6 million award to be finalized by the end of June, which together would bring estimated project resources to about $2.12 million before the bidding process.
Miss Parker said the bid process will better define any remaining funding gaps and that staff will work with the commissioners to identify additional grants or county support if necessary when bids come back.
