Council members explained that, as part of the redevelopment plan for the property in question, the proposed off-street parking changes include an easement providing 12 parking spaces intended for the nearby school. Under the proposal discussed at the meeting, the school would pay $3,000 per year for those spaces; council said the details and any site-plan approvals must go through Planning and Zoning.
All ordinances were introduced for subsequent review; council noted that the redevelopment and zoning changes would be subject to Planning and Zoning approvals in November and that public hearings will be scheduled as required.
What's next: the ordinances proceed through customary municipal review and public hearing processes; the council flagged that the off-street parking provisions are related to the redevelopment plan and will be reviewed by Planning & Zoning.
