At its Aug. 26 meeting, the Wallkill Valley Regional High School Board of Education adopted Policy 2365, "Acceptable Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence," following a final reading and vote.
The Board also accepted the second reading of Regulation 5516 governing the use of electronic communication devices and approved the 2025-2026 Virtual/Remote Instruction Plan. Board members discussed board self-evaluation results earlier in the meeting as part of the NJSBA presentation on goals and objectives.
Board members framed the AI policy adoption as a governance step to set expectations for staff and students on the permissible use of generative AI tools. The policy was recorded in the official minutes as adopted, with the regulation and remote-instruction plan approved during the same policy block.
The Board did not attach a public comment or amendment to the AI policy during the Aug. 26 meeting; the minutes reflect standard adoption language and placement of the policy in district policy records.
