Clemson council approves parking ordinance first reading and declares surplus AMI water meters; minutes approved

CLEMSON — At its Dec. 15 meeting the City Council approved several routine policy items in a package of votes that passed by voice.
First reading of an ordinance to amend Chapter 18, Section 18-34 (metered and leased parking) passed. The revision allows the city administrator, in addition to council, to make minor, short-notice adjustments to metered and leased parking for special events or emergency circumstances; staff said the change is intended to enable rapid responses for one-off events while council retains final authority.
Council also declared surplus a large inventory of water meters from the AMI change-out project. Staff reported the project is nearly complete and that the city expects approximately 6,500 brass meters and 3,500 OPRO-style plastic meters to be sold in two lots via online auction (GovDeals); some meters may be rebuilt and reused overseas. The motion to declare and dispose of the surplus meters passed by voice vote.
The minutes of the Dec. 1 meeting were approved earlier in the night by a show-of-hands vote.
All votes were taken by voice/raise of hands; no roll-call tallies were recorded on the public transcript.
