Residents raise hoarding and 911 reporting concerns; zoning request moved to attorney

Malinda Henderson, who said she lives next to 121 Front Street, told the council: "I live next to 121 Front Street and it is miserable. Their hoarding has gotten worse and is out of control." Councilor Gage Kelley said the residents at that address also block the road with vehicles and proposed towing those vehicles at the owner's expense. The council did not record a formal enforcement vote on the hoarding complaint at this meeting.
Visitor Jonathan Goodwin reported a Nov. 28 emergency call that was misclassified: "The call came out as a 2-year-old drowning but it was actually a 22-year-old. They also got the address incorrect. I contacted them and they are supposed to be getting the map updated." Goodwin also said both fire engines will be in Mulga's Christmas parade and that a truck will attend Adamsville's parade on Dec. 13.
Nicholas Cruso asked for permission to open a bingo hall at 600 Mulga Loop Rd.; owner Eulogio Miguel confirmed his ownership and asked whether, if bingo were not approved, a mechanic body shop could operate at that location. Mayor W. Keith Varner said, "The building is zoned for commercial use. We will go into executive session and speak to our attorney. We will get back with you on this matter." The council entered executive session to consult the attorney; no public record decision on the property's use was made during the meeting.
The council confirmed that it could not give Christmas bonuses but approved a one-time pay increase for employees ($250 for under two years' service; $500 for two or more years) instead. The meeting adjourned after reconvening from executive session.
