Trustees pressed the superintendent on the district’s use of e-learning days. Dr. Fitzpatrick said e-learning is not optimal and that "optimal is to be in school with a teacher," arguing the district should use built-in makeup days first and reserve e-learning as a backup. Trustees expressed concern that students who rely on buses may have no way to reach school when buses cannot run on icy roads; staff said absences caused by unsafe roads are excused and the cabinet will review procedures to improve access and communications.
Board members also asked for clarity about how many makeup and e-learning days remain; staff confirmed the calendar includes three makeup days and five e-learning days. No policy change was adopted at the meeting; staff said they will return with procedural improvements and communications options for future weather events.
