Campobello advances ADU ordinance to first reading as planning staff transition continues

Mayor Pro Tem Joe McDowell read the proposed ordinance and opened the floor for questions. Council members asked about current zoning administrator responsibilities; Mayor Aaron Ash said Dawn Ford is serving in that role through Planning & Zoning functions and noted the town is transitioning some responsibilities to a newly approved Director of Planning position.
Planning & Zoning had prepared ADU language amendments and forwarded a recommendation to the council. The amendments were presented as providing additional guidance and regulatory safeguards for future development. With no additional questions, Council Member McDowell moved to approve the first reading; Council Member Reitha Stevenson seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.
Next steps: the ordinance will proceed through subsequent readings as required by town code and staff will continue to clarify administrative responsibilities during the transition to a Director of Planning.
