Camden outlines AMI rollout, water main work and planned elevated tank

Director of Utilities and Public Works Jack Thornsberry briefed the Camden City Council on progress with the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) project and several water and utility infrastructure projects.
Thornsberry told council that AMI deployment is on track for full implementation by early fall. He said utility providers are expected to begin removing outdated power poles later this year after completion of fiber and service transfers.
The utilities director also reported continued work on water main replacements, and on construction of a new 500,000‑gallon elevated water tank and a booster pump station to improve system pressure and redundancy.
Thornsberry’s update focused on project timelines and capital‑infrastructure improvements; the council took the presentation as an informational staff report and did not record additional actions in the meeting minutes.
