Mayor Aaron Ash and the Campobello Town Council on May 11 approved an internet service plan for Gosnell Park to enable remote access to restroom door locks, security camera review and improved connectivity for community events.
The council voted unanimously to accept the T‑Mobile service option described by Lt. Chris Miller and recommended during the work session, at an estimated cost of about $38 per month. Town Administrator Trey Eubanks said the monthly expense could be paid from the Town’s Hospitality Fund, which has a balance of slightly more than $32,000, and that park rental revenue could offset ongoing costs.
Lt. Chris Miller had told the council officials evaluated both T‑Mobile and Verizon and identified T‑Mobile as the more cost‑effective option. He said the service would allow staff to disable individual restroom doors remotely, adjust lock schedules without an on‑site visit, and permit off‑site review of security camera footage in cases of vandalism or property damage.
Council members also discussed how internet access would support future events such as Family Fun Day, National Night Out and outdoor movie nights. The council approved the plan on a motion by Council Member Alician Sprouse, seconded by Council Member Reitha Stevenson; the motion carried unanimously.
Next steps: staff will proceed with the T‑Mobile plan setup and configure remote access for the park’s restroom locks and cameras, with funding drawn from hospitality and park revenue sources.
