The Owens Cross Roads council on Monday adopted its fiscal year 2026 budget, approving Resolution 25-073 to fund city operations from Oct. 1, 2025, through Sept. 30, 2026. Councilwoman Jennifer Little moved to adopt the resolution and Councilwoman Elizabeth Craig seconded; several members voted in favor and the mayor declared the budget adopted.
The mayor said the council reviewed the draft at a special work session on Dec. 1 and made requested changes before presenting the final draft for adoption. The resolution as presented covers general operations, sewer operations and other municipal funds for the coming fiscal year.
The vote was recorded in the meeting for those members who were called: Councilman Dan Arbertson, Councilman Scott Baker, Mayor Tony Craig and Councilman Claude Lane recorded "Yay." The chair declared the motion approved.
Council members did not raise substantive questions about specific line items during the meeting. The council had previously reviewed the budget in detail during the December work session, according to the mayor.
The budget takes effect on Oct. 1, 2025. The council did not provide additional budget documents during the public meeting beyond noting that requested changes had been incorporated.
