Quinton BOE approves contracts, personnel reappointments and roof project; multiple motions pass unanimously

The Quinton Township Board of Education on May 8 approved a slate of motions covering personnel, contracts, transportation, shared services and a capital roof project.
Key actions the board approved by roll call or voice vote included:
- Personnel: Reappointment and contract issuance for tenured and non-tenured teachers, paraprofessionals, 10-month and 12-month support staff, administrative staff and substitutes; specific hires for ESY and summer programs were named in the motion and approved.
- Tuition and educational contracts: A Salem County Vocational Technical School (SCVTS) tuition contract for 2025—6 with estimated costs of $4,050 (full-time) and $2,025 (shared-time) and an estimated total of $301,750; a Salem High School tuition contract for 2025—6 (tuition rate $21,115; estimated 28 full-time and 1 shared-time students for a total of $652,320) and a 2023—2024 tuition adjustment of $82,344; and an estimated resource-room contract (1,500 hours at $25.40 per hour, $38,100).
- Transportation: Renewal of contracts with B. R. Williams, Inc. through June 2025 with route-level costs and a grand total renewal shown as $225,262.83 after CPI adjustments; approvals to request McKinney-Vento funds to help cover per-diem routes for displaced residents were recorded.
- Shared and related services: Agreements with Salem County Special Services School District and Gloucester County Special Services School District for related services, itinerant services and transportation cooperative administration (related services contract $39,725.40 annually).
- Capital project: The board awarded the ROD Grant Roof Project (DOE Project #4280-050-23-R501) to Winchester Roofing for $265,315 following a public bid opening on April 22, 2025; the motion carried by roll call.
- Miscellaneous: Approval of a photography agreement with Memory Keeper Photography for 2025—6, authorization to submit a 2026 Safety Grant application through the New Jersey School Insurance Group, and appointment of Karen Klaus as petty cash custodian.
Most motions recorded roll-call approval with seven ayes and no nays.
