Quinton board submits preliminary 2025-26 budget with 4.1% tax-levy increase; public hearing set for April 24

At its March 13 meeting the Quinton Township Board of Education approved by resolution the preliminary 2025–2026 budget for submission to the Salem County Office of Education, noting the proposal is within the statutory cap and reflects a 4.1% increase in the tax levy. The board scheduled the public hearing on the budget for Thursday, April 24, 2025, at 7 p.m.

The business-administrator report included the board secretary certifications and routine finance items: approval of payroll and agency payments for February and authorization to pay March bills on March 27 with final approval at the April meeting. The board approved travel and workshop requests previously cleared by the superintendent.

The minutes record transportation approvals for specified Quinton residents with per diem rates of $350.00 and $293.00 (district will seek McKinney-Vento funds to assist the cost of the routes). The board approved a contract with Brookfield Schools to provide instructional services for a named student at a rate of $35 per hour, and approved a proposal from Remington Vernick Engineers for design, bidding and construction support to replace the roof on the district's 2000s wing (costs for the engineering work were not specified in the minutes).
