Dam repairs await DEP approvals; Collings Lakes board removes vandalized porta-pot

Don Watson questioned how the association will collect enough funds, saying the money in collections "could literally pay for another DAM." Board members replied that legal and bylaw limits constrain collections and asked members to keep dues current.

Separately, board members discussed repeated vandalism of a porta-pot at Beach 1. Residents suggested chaining it down or installing cameras; Don Saunders agreed to research trail-camera options. The board voted to remove the porta-pot immediately due to repeated tipping and cleanup costs. The board also discussed beach maintenance: increased harrow use versus weed killer, and continued water testing required by a court order because residents use the lake even when the beach is closed. Keegan Smith summarized lifeguard-staffing challenges, noting a tentative candidate was not open-water certified and insurance denied a workers' compensation arrangement for a beach attendant.

The board approved removal of the porta-pot and will follow up on dam-permit status with DEP and contractor contacts. Residents asked the board to provide continued updates on dam planning and project timing.
