Ramsey introduces $350,000 capital ordinance to replace two failing culverts on Alita Place

The Ramsey mayor and council introduced Ordinance 22-2025 on Sept. 10 to authorize $350,000 in capital improvements to remove and replace two failing culverts on Alita Place.
Borough Administrator Bruce Jose told the council the engineering and design were completed by Land Associates, necessary New Jersey Department permits have been received, and the project is out to bid with a bid due date later in September. Jose said the funding comes from the borough’s capital improvement fund and that no new debt will be issued for the work.
The ordinance authorizes replacement of the culverts and associated repairs including abutments, guide rails, wing walls, curbs and roadway resurfacing as needed. The council passed the ordinance on first reading and scheduled final consideration at the regular meeting on Sept. 24, 2025.
If adopted at final reading, the borough will proceed with awarding the contract after the bid process and following any required state approvals.
