The Ramsey mayor and council adopted Ordinance 07‑2025 on April 9, 2025, creating local requirements for liability insurance and annual registration for businesses and owners of rental units to mirror state law.
Councilwoman Cusk read the ordinance into the record and said the change implements S‑1368, which requires owners of multifamily rental properties to maintain specified minimum liability insurance and to file a certificate of insurance annually with the municipality. The ordinance also establishes administrative fees and penalties for noncompliance.
The council opened the public hearing and, receiving no public comment on the measure, approved the ordinance by roll call (Councilwoman Cusk, Councilman Gutwer, Councilman Papo, Councilwoman Poppy and Councilwoman Woods voting yes). The ordinance directs the borough clerk to publish the title and filing information in the official newspaper in accordance with law.
