The Jonesville City Council on Oct. 15 approved a series of routine municipal actions, including a one-year agreement with the Woodhill Group for accounting and financial services and event and budget approvals.
On a motion by Brenda Guyse, supported by Dean Adair II, the council voted to enter into a one-year agreement with the Woodhill Group to provide primary finance director services. Karen Lancaster of the Woodhill Group told the council the firm will handle account reconciliations, tax collections and reconciliations, state and federal reporting, and budget and audit preparation. The estimated annual cost for the services is $75,000. The motion carried; Gerry Arno was recorded absent.
The council also approved Traffic Control Order 2025-02, closing Park Street and the park between Park Street and Chicago Street for the city’s trunk-or-treat event on Oct. 31 from 4:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The traffic-control motion was made by Chris Grider and supported by Annette Sands and carried with the same absence noted.
Brenda Guyse moved and Dean Adair II supported receiving Ordinance No. 226 and scheduling a public hearing on Nov. 19, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. at Jonesville City Hall to consider recodification of the city’s Zoning Ordinance. According to the motion summary, the recodification updates references from the former “Village of Jonesville” to the “City of Jonesville,” removes Fayette Township regulatory references and incorporates amendments made since 2013.
The council approved October accounts payable totaling $153,000.88 on a motion by Chris Grider supported by Annette Sands. Department heads, Manager Gray and council members provided brief updates before Mayor Pro-Tem Andy Penrose adjourned the meeting at 7:34 p.m.
The public hearing on Ordinance No. 226 is scheduled for Nov. 19; the Woodhill Group agreement will be administered by the city manager’s office per the approved contract authority.
